It is a great honour to have been awarded the Jones Engineering Scholarship Award along with my colleagues Lee Gibbons and Gearoid Cronin. The aim of this award is to recognise talented and committed students who will make their mark in the world of engineering.

As part of this award process there was a 5 minute pitch/presentation on the following statement:

“Continuation with existing consumption patterns in the first world means that by the end of this Century at 2100 the condition of the Ecosystem of the Earth will be so irrevocably damaged that it will not be able to recover.”

This was then followed by an interview by a panel consisting of, Jones Engineering Group CEO, Jim Curley, Head of Mechanical and Design Engineering in TU Dublin – City Campus, Ger Reilly, and DIT foundation’s scholarship manager, Jill O’Lone.

A lovely evening was held to celebrate the partnership between Technological University Dublin and Jones Engineering where students of the TU Dublin Conservatoire performed. The Jones Engineering Scholarships were presented at the event by Jim Curley, Group CEO of Jones Engineering, and David Fitzpatrick, TU Dublin President. The scholarships were awarded to three students in Engineering and two students in the Performing Arts.

I am extremely grateful to have received this award and I would like to thank both TU Dublin and Jones Engineering Group for this opportunity.
